Hi FFS: Here’s a question for you all that I didn’t know where else to ask! I have my first own studio and am learning my way through firing my own kiln, mixing glazes etc. I haven't fired a bisque yet! Also I'm a big fan of the FFS podcast! On the podcast Matt said that he always bisques to cone 08, and the key to choosing a bisque temperature is consistency not what cone you fire to. I’m using a cone 6 red-brown stoneware (4D3B from Sheffield Pottery). I have read that it is a good idea to fire red stoneware to 04, to burn off impurities and avoid possible glaze pinholing. I would love to fire to 06 or 08, to use less electricity and have a shorter firing. So the questions is: does Matt’s position on bisqueing to 08 apply to red stoneware? Thanks so very much!

(I didn't send in an audio question as this seems kind of specific and maybe not the kind of question you'd answer "on the air"?!!?)
